This is a very lovely piece.
You can combine the pinkish color with the overall black, and not feel that it is a blur at all (the pink serves as lovely highlights that stand out but that don't crowd out the black against which it is contrasted).
On that note, it is interesting that you chose to use pink as the highlight, rather than the original white/peach in the stock photo--while both are lively, the pink tones in my opinion give the painted version of the horse a more youthful look.
The painted background is simpler than the stock photo, but the color blends are inviting. I was wondering what the light peach area in the painting represented. Does it suggest the horse is standing in a desert area, with grasslands in the background? Or is that a running area (if so, you could add a fence separating it from grassy part)?
